How To Help: Buy Meals For Seniors

Like other operators of senior facilities, the folks at Tower One/Tower East are working hard to keep their residents alive — and fed — during the COVID-19 crisis.

You can help.

The residents of the senior complex must stay in their rooms 24 hours a day. No visitors. No communal meals. They are too much at risk of serious consequences, including death, from the COVID-19 coronavirus.

The staff brings meals to everyone’s rooms. Not all the 320 seniors are on the meal plan. As a result, the Towers is asking people to donate enough money to feed seniors meals, which cost $390 a month per senior.

Following is a memo from Towers CEO Gus Keach-Longo with details:

Help us feed the most vulnerable seniors, while reducing anxiety during this time of protective
social distancing.
At The Towers we are doing everything possible to keep our seniors healthy and safe.
We have immediate food needs in this health crisis. You can subsidize a senior not already on our meal plan so they receive three meals daily prepared by our kosher kitchen. This will ensure good nutrition and almost eliminate the need for delivered groceries and reduce uncertainty and risk.
To feed one senior in financial need for one full month will cost $390. We are working to feed all 320 of our residents all of their meals. Please consider funding 1 – 10 seniors. Or give what you can. Every gift matters and makes a difference. We appreciate the gifts that have already been made. Together we will keep our seniors safe through these challenging times.
To make a gift you can email Jennifer Bayer at [email protected].
Mail a check to: The Towers Foundation ATTN: Jennifer Bayer
18 Tower Lane
New Haven, CT 06519
Or Call Nicole Merritt at 203 – 772-1816, ext. 180 with your credit card number. Or make a gift online at towerone.org
We also need the following items:
1. Hand sanitizer
2. Lysol disinfecting spray 3. Disposable gloves
4. Clorox Wipes
