We’re trying something different today from midnight to midnight.
We’re taking our definition of news — “It happened. It matters” — and applying it on an hour-to-hour basis to stories that don’t usually get told. We’ll be popping in on people’s everyday routines, institutions’ everyday rhythms. We’d love to hear what you think; feel free to post a comment below.
A day in the life sort of thing sounds interesting. But since you can't be everywhere at once, I think it would be better to spread out the story gathering to a week then choose a "best of" sort of thing. There are different rhythms going on depending on the day.
Here's another idea: Start a weekly feature that takes an in-depth look at something topical. For instance a while back there was a very long article on Gar Waterman. That type of thing would be perfect as a weekly spotlight on something.
