Homicide Victim ID’d

Love this news source, but have to agree with the commenters on Kevin Jiang posts that the profile of Kevin as victim has gotten so much more attention than the bare mentions the other six victims who were city residents have received. Hoping that the Indy is looking inwards a bit.

Yeah, Kevin Jiang has gotten more than anyone else because he is Yale Graduate. I bet it was a surprise to many it wasn't a New Haven community member that committed the murder. It appears the lives of the Non-Yale Graduate and average people of New Haven don't matter as much.

I hope going forward that as much attention and diligence is given to the cause of solving these victims murders and the others we have lost this past year as is currently given in the media to the murder of Kevin Jiang.
NHI- please keep the pressure on to remember their names, interview their friends and families, and keep them in the media so their murderers can be brought to justice. Maybe a memorial section could be added for unsolved murders with the victims photos and the details of their murder and their friends and families memories of the victims? Sort of like a virtual memorial wall? With an tip line contact info for the detective assigned to the case for people to pass along any information that they have they might be related to the case? Every victim deserves justice and equal treatment by the media and the law enforcement establishment, regardless of the race, resume of the victim or circumstances of the case.

I don't think this is an entirely fair line of criticism for the <i>Independent</I> which does a much better job than any other news organization in the area of telling the stories of people who become the victims of violent crime.
