Cops Investigate Online Tweed Warning

Detectives headed to Tweed New Haven Airport to check out an unconfirmed report of bombs on site.

The police learned shortly after 10:30 a.m. that a blogger had written about pipe bombs and possibly an AK 47” being left at Tweed, said Police Chief Anthony Campbell. They did not mention an individual. They did not mention an individual brandishing or planning to use them.”

A woman from Virginia noticed the item online and reported it to Virginia state police, who contacted the New Haven police, Campbell. said.

Top cops learned of the threat during the weekly Compstat data-sharing meeting at 1 Union Ave. Detectives rushed out to the scene.

We have contacted FBI. We are doing a coordinated investigation,” Chief Campbell said. The FBI is working with us to track down ledes as to where this information came from and to assess its credibility.”

Update: The New Haven police and FBI determined there was no basis to the threat.
