Paging 2019

The place to be this New Year’s Eve will be in the commercial heart of Westville, where the annual Westville Winter Formal” bash begins at 9:30 p.m.

Chrissy Gardner and friends will perform at the event, which will feature dancing, an auction, desserts, and spiked punch.

The proceeds go to a good cause: The Westville Village Renaissance Alliance (WVRA), which has helped guide the neighborhood revival that has indeed made it the kind of place to spend New Year’s Eve.

Singer/songwriter Gardner and guitarist Robert Messore previewed some of their numbers on an edition of WNHH FM’s Dateline New Haven” program.

And WVRA Executive Director Lizzy Donius updated listeners on Westville’s progress, from recent store openings to plans for a new restaurant/apartment complex at the old Delaney’s site and an eatery at the former First Niagara bank building. (She said construction is slated to begin in both spots this spring.) Also discussed was the future of Lyric Hall. (Independent bookstore/performance space, anyone?)
