With five to nine inches of snow headed our way, the city has declared another emergency parking ban.
The ban starts Thursday at 8 a.m. It runs through Saturday at 8 a.m.
All street parking is banned downtown and along snow emergency routes. In neighborhoods, parking is prohibited on the odd-numbered side of streets.
The city is encouraging people to use off-street parking, including at public school lots, downtown garages (which will have $3 daily rates during the ban), and “selected” Yale lots.
Otherwise, prepare to get ticketed and towed.
If you do get towed, click here for information or call (203) 946‑6316. “If you need to report an incident regarding the storm, such as a power outage or fallen tree, call the Emergency Operations Center at (203) 946‑8221,” the city advises.
And if all this schlepping and shoveling and shivering seems too much already, cheer up: We could be in Texas right now. Or Oregon. Or Ohio. And we’re not.
Spring is right around the corner. Crocuses are starting to push their way up through the snow. Before you know it we will be complaining about how hot and muggy it is....
