Tow Truck Crash Kills Pedestrian

How many more before something is done to make roads safer for pedestrians?

Heather - not to worry! The state DOT will start construction at a singular intersection on the boulevard in about a year. That should solve the immediate problem of this entire roadway!.

Although I agree that pedestrians are vulnerable users on our streets, there is nothing in the story leading to the conclusion that in this instance something needs to be done to make the roadway safer. Let's let the investigation determine what did and did not contribute to the fatality. Much to look into before coming to conclusions.

Ella Grasso is dangerous to cross at any point along its stretch. It is far too wide, the vehicles drive too fast, it barely has any crosswalks or crossing lights, or sidewalks, it is dark at night. The road was designed to move vehicles, not for the safety of people not in vehicles. Yet it divides the city's neighborhoods from each other where many of those residents are on foot or bicycles.
