Tow Truck Crash Kills Pedestrian

Another pedestrian has lost a life on New Haven’s Death Boulevard.”

The fatality occurred Thursday around 1 a.m.

A 46-year-old New Haven man driving a Ford F‑350 commercial tow truck struck 67-year-old pedestrian Curtis Woods of New Haven at the intersection of Ella T. Grasso Boulevard and Lamberton Street, according to police spokesperson Capt. Anthony Duff. Woods was taken by ambulance to Yale New Haven Hospital, and pronounced dead there. The driver remained on scene.

That high-speed stretch of state road has earned the moniker Death Boulevard” because of the preponderance of pedestrian fatalities and near-fatalities. it is New Haven’s deadliest road. Click here for a recent story about efforts to make it safer.
