Vice President Kamala Harris plans to stop in to the Boys and Girls Club in the Hill during her visit to New Haven Friday.
Harris is coming to town as part of the Biden-Harris Administration’s campaign to tout the effects of the recently passed $1.9 trillion pandemic relief bill.
She is scheduled to leave D.C. by plane at 11:50 a.m. and fly into Tweed.
At 2:35 p.m. she is scheduled to hold a “listening session” at the Boy & Girls Club along with Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona and U.S. Sens. Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy “and Connecticut leaders on how the American Rescue Plan addresses the issue of child poverty and education,” according to a release from her office. Most of the press is barred from her visit except for a pool reporter and photographer.
Harris is then scheduled to visit the West Haven Child Development Center along with Cardona and U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro. She is scheduled to leave from Tweed at 6:45 p.m. to return to D.C.
The schedule does not mention anyone else she might meet with in New Haven, such as perhaps a grassroots Dixwell activist with ideas he’s ready to give her for making sure the post-pandemic recovery lifts all boats. However the schedule does have gaps: more than an hour between her arrival at Tweed and her first event, for instance. So who knows?
