Today’s programs aired on WNHH radio explored Kevin Ewing’s journey into radio and video production, films by local filmmakers Travis Carbonella and Doris Zelinsky, and new interpretations of the Bible. 

Kevin Rev Kev” Ewing of Baobab Tree Studios (71 Orange St.) joined Paul Bass on Dateline New Haven.” They discussed Ewing’s digital recording and production enterprise, including its new What’s Good gun-violence-themed album (available for download here).

On Tom Breen’s Deep Focus,” local freelance filmmaker Travis Carbonella came on to speak about his work, and the successes and challenges he’s had as a filmmaker in a relatively small city. In the second segment of the show, Breen welcomed Doris Zelinsky, chair of the Holocaust Memory Organization and an original founder, to speak about Sunday’s premiere of the 22-minute People Forget … New Haven Remembers, a film that tells the story of New Haven’s Holocaust survivors, at the Bow Tie Criteron Cinemas on Temple Street

Radio personality Joe Ugly and his morning drive time team joined Alisa Bowens for her weekly Culture Cocktail.” They discussed pizza, independent music, and the new Broadway play with a white actor playing Martin Luther King.

Sharon Benzoni’s At the Moment” featured author Aviya Kushner, one of Benzoni’s former college professors. The two discussed Kushner’s new book, The Grammar of God, which takes a very close look at the bible’s original language and offers a fresh new translation.
