The Board of Alders voted unanimously Monday in favor of a comprehensive audit of all the city’s Department of Youth Services’ funds and accounts.
Board President Tyisha Walker-Myers said the request for the audit is in response to this recent New Haven Independent article, which detailed grant spending by the department and raised ethics questions about how funds have been spent.
Reached by phone after the vote, Youth Services Director Jason Bartlett said he is open to “whatever they want to do.”
“Everything in our department is done by the books,” he said.
