Actually, it was soon to be hot out of the oven … as sundown approached Friday, launching the eight-day Jewish festival of Passover, and Pablo Cruz was busy preparing fresh matzah at a Westville synagogue.
Pablo (at right in photo) had help from fellow members of Congregation Beth El Keser Israel, including his brother Mateo (at left) and Sascha van Creveld.
Matzah — cracker-like unleavened bread — is the star culinary attraction of the Passover seder, and a staple of Jewish diets for the full eight days of the holiday, during which consumption of other forms of bread is forbidden.
