A lot of effort has gone into the production of “Hamlet” by the Shoreline Arts Alliance. If you can’t get to Guilford, be sure to take the kids to the Branford green this morning at 10 a.m. for Hamlet Abridged!

Storm’s a comin’. This will be a good weekend for inside activities. Take the kids to the library this afternoon – they can learn all about sound, courtesy of the Connecticut Science Center. We’ve been looking forward to town historian Jane Bouley’s new book about Branford’s street names. If you look at old maps of Branford you’ll see many of today’s street names. Bouley will be at the library on Saturday to sign copies of her book. Cuddling kitties is a great indoor activity – Branford Compassion Club is having a food and supply drive. Stop by – you may also find the love of your life. Got a cool event? Email sebahner@snet.net.

by Sally E. Bahner | Jun 15, 2018 9:00 am

File PhotoThis weekend, there is only one cool event, the Branford Festival. For the 34th year, townspeople, businesses, craftspeople, food vendors, and entertainers will fill the Branford green over three days. Chair Kristine Klarman and her committee have been hard at work finalizing all the details; it’s a process that starts almost immediately after the previous year’s festival. The Branford Eagle will be on hand – be sure to stop by and say hello.

Here’s the schedule.

Bill O'Brien PhotoOn the first Saturday of May for the past 15 years, Young’s Pond Park has been the site of the annual “Skyhoundz Dog Frisbee Contest,” organized by Victor Amatori, program supervisor of the Branford Recreation Department.

Bill O'Brien PhotoThis past Saturday, 23 canines were registered by their owners for this year’s competition. “That’s the most we ever had. It’s getting bigger and more competitive each year,” Amatori said. Here Jack, an 11-year-old Aussie, makes a great catch of his Frisbee.

Speaking of protecting, LWV and Connecticut Shoreline Indivisible will hold a forum Saturday on protecting our right to vote. (Are you registered?) Read on – there’s more! Got a cool event?
