Charles “Doc” Harris, Jr., 64, of New Haven, departed this life May 30, 2013. He was the widower of Sandra Carter Harris.
Born in New Haven, CT, May 30, 1949, and raised in West Haven, CT, he was the son of the late Charles Harris, Sr. and Elwaine Howell Harris.
Prior to retiring, he was employed at G. Douglas Manufacturing as a Machine Operator. Mr. Harris had also been employed by Group W. Bench Co. and Rubbermatch as a Security Guard and Salesperson.
Doc had a great love for animals and nature. He enjoyed assisting his late wife, prepare lunches for all of her students, making sure each student had a lunch every school outing.
He is survived by sisters, Vedia H. Wilson (Don A.) and Beverly Whitehead (Donald); and other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by a brother, Dennis Harris.
A celebration of Mr. Harris’ life and legacy will be held Saturday, June 8, 2013, at 9:00 A.M. at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven. Viewing will be held from 8:00 – 9:00 A.M. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Online guestbook available at www.curvinkcouncil.com
