Roosevelt Buck” Taft, 75

Roosevelt Buck” Taft, 75, of New Haven, was called home on July 30, 2017.

He was born April 5, 1942, in Greenville, N.C. (Pitt County) to the late Clearance Pitt and Mary Pitt-Taft. He worked at Winchester Gun Factory, and later retired from Sargent Manufacturing Company after 30 years of service. He also enjoyed playing baseball with the Cardinals Club’s baseball team.

Buck” leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Melanie Taft; sons, Roosevelt Taft Jr. and Alphonso Taft; daughters, Stephanie Sparks, Michelle Brockington, Angelina (Gerald) LeSane, and Felicia Robinson; step-daughters, Shylee Hooks, Renae (Lemar) Edwards, and Sabrina Gibbs; brothers, Clearance Taft and Charles Taft; sisters, Patricia Adkins; and a host of grandchildren, relatives, and friends. He was predeceased by his nephew, Tyrone Taft. 

A celebration of his life will take place Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Matthews UFW Baptist Church, 400 Dixwell Ave, New Haven, CT 06511. Friends may call Thursday at the church from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Interment will be in North Carolina. Services by Howard K.
