Ruth I. Moore, 73

Ruth I. Moore, 73 of New Haven passed away Oct. 4, 2018, at Masonicare Home Health and Hospice.

She was the daughter of the late Ellie and Irene McFadden, born on May 22, 1945, in Kingstree, S.C.

Ruth was the youngest of 19 and attended the Walker and Gamble School in Claremont County. Growing up on the farm, Ruth learned many lessons. She even had a pet chicken whom she loved dearly. In 196,1 at the tender age of 17, she married William C. Moore Sr. In the same year, they both relocated to New Haven. Here, they started their family and seven children were born.

While living in New Haven, her big sister Sally invited her to a service. To appease her sister she went to the service and her life was never the same. It was at that service she received the Lord as her personal savior.

Ruth was on fire for the Lord. She always had a heart for people. With zeal and passion, she became a minister and soon after opened Thessalon Apostolic Church in the Fair Haven section of New Haven. In this capacity, she went above and beyond the call. Anyone who came in contact with her was sure to be blessed by the anointing that rested on her life.

While pastoring and raising her children she also managed to become a licensed phlebotomist. She worked for Quest Diagnostics for 20 years. In 1987 she decided to no longer pastor and she turned her church over to Bishop Richard Brooks. In the early 1990s, she began to attend C.T.C.C under the leadership of Bishop John R. Thompson Sr.

She was faithful in service there until her relocation to South Carolina in 2000. Never losing her passion for ministry, she founded Corrin Temple Pentecostal Ministries in Sumter, S.C. In 2013, she moved back to Connecticut where she resided until the time of her death. While here in Connecticut she attended F.H.D.M under the leadership of her daughter Pastor Sandra Jefferson.

Pastor Moore leaves to cherish her memory her husband William C. Moore Sr., four daughters Cecelia Lewandowski (Keith), Pastor Sandra Jefferson (Anthony) of New Haven, Priscilla Singletary of Hamden, and Gloria Harrell (Gary) of Columbia, S.C.; two sons Perry Moore of Wedgefield, S.C. and William C. Moore Jr. of Wilson, N.C. She also leaves 20 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Additionally, she leaves a special daughter Lisa Garrett and host of nieces, nephews and relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by one daughter Ann Moore, nine sisters and nine brothers.

In her lifetime she was loved and cherished by many. No matter where or when she was asked she would never hesitate to pray for whoever was in need. She had a prayer that would shake the very foundation of any soul. Often you’d hear her say When I think of the goodness of Jesus and all he’s done for me my soul cries out Hallelujah. I thank God for saving me.”

Before preaching she’d sing We are standing on holy ground” or “ Love is kind,” I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread,” Psalms 37:25. In her sickness she never forgot God and we will never forget her. Her life and legacy will go on through her children, grandchildren and all that knew and loved her.

A celebration of her life will take place Thursday at 11 a.m. at Beulah Heights First Pentecostal Church, 782 Orchard St, New Haven. Friends may call Thursday at the church from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in New Haven. Services by Howard K. Hill Funeral Services, 1287 Chapel St, New Haven, CT 06511. To leave a message of comfort for the Moore family, please visit, www.hkhfuneralservices.com
