Serena V. Mitchell, 52, of New Haven, passed away Feb. 6, 2019.

Serena was born in New Haven to Louis Hall and Barbara Jean McCrae on March 9, 1966. She worked as a counselor with Job Corps.

Serena leaves to cherish her memory, son, Joseph Yancey, Jr.; daughters, Dijon Edwards and Daneen (Quintis) Mitchell- Smith; brothers, Wayne (Zemanda) McCrae, Louis (Stacey) Hall, Joseph Hall, and Lamar (Tasha) Hall; sisters, Kaiya (Jermaine) Dicks, Sheila (Anthony) Russell-Hopkins, and Tracy Payne; 3 grandchildren; aunt, Carol (Marvin) Henderson and Ethel Peters; and a host of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her son, Silas Mitchell; paternal grandparents, Roger and Lillian Becks; and maternal grandparents, Louis and Murtty Hall, Sr.

A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, Feb. 16, at 10 a.m. at House of Jacob Church, 142 Canton St, West Haven. Friends may call Saturday at the church from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Interment will be private. Services by Howard K. Hill Funeral Services, 1287 Chapel St, New Haven.
