William R. Butch” Furlow, 77

William R. Butch” Furlow, 77 of New Haven entered into eternal rest suddenly on July 9, 2018, at Yale-New Haven Hospital.

Born Dec. 12, 1940, to the late Hazel (Jackson) Furlow and to the late William Furlow. He was educated in the New Haven Public School system and graduated from James Hillhouse High School in 1959.

He retired from Pratt & Whitney on Jan. 1, 2006, after 47 years of employment. He was a longstanding member, for more than 40 years, of Bible Gospel Center, where he served as both a trustee and deacon.

He leaves to cherish his memory two sons, the Hon. Richard Furlow and Michael (Felicia) Furlow, two granddaughters Mylecia Magarette and Makayla Belle Furlow all of New Haven. Three sisters, Juanita Furlow and Helen Martin-Dawson (James) of New Haven and Evangelist Janice Furman of Norwich; two brothers, Ronald Joe” Furlow of Hamden and Frederick Petey” (Debbie) Furlow of Texas and nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his loving wife Willa Belle (Leak) Furlow.

A celebration of life will take place on Friday at Bible Gospel Center, 143 Leeder Hill Drive, Hamden. The family will receive friends at the church during the calling hour of 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. with the funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery.
