Bernice Cox, 80, of New Haven, departed this life June 6, 2009. She was the widow of John A. Cox. Born in Greenville, NC, November 21, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Augusta and Helen Roach. Mrs. Cox leaves to cherish her memory, sons, Daniel Roach, Sr. (Margaret) and Robert E. Small, Sr.; a daughter, Bernice Small; a sister, Ella Stanley; eight grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by brothers, Lee House, Sr., Augusta Roach, Jr., and Richard and William Tom Roach; sisters, Elizabeth House, Dora Green, Pearlie Owens, Cherry Jackson, Catherine Langley and Della Smith.
A celebration of Mrs. Cox’s life and legacy will be held Saturday, June 13, 2009, at 9:00 A.M. at God’s Miracles Unlimited Outreach, 1441 Dixwell Ave., Hamden.
