Deloris “Dee” Jean West, 68 of New Haven departed this life on March 6, 2016.
She was born on February 24, 1948 in Grifton, N.C., to Nora West Olds. Deloris worked at Knights of Columbus for 18 years before her second career at AT&T for 24 years. She loved her family and loved cooking, reading, crocheting and jewelry making. Dee also enjoyed volunteering at the Food Pantry at St. Matthews Church, singing in the 8am Ensemble Choir and listening to her gospel, jazz and R&B music. She leaves to cherish her memory, daughter Dava (Seth) Flowers-Poole of New Haven; sister Rosa (William) Edwards of New Haven; one soon to be grandchild Baby Poole. She was preceded by her mother Nora West Olds and brother Robert West. Services will be held Saturday, March 12th at St. Matthews Church, 400 Dixwell Ave., New Haven, CT. The viewing will be from 8am to 9am and service at 9am. Interment will take place at Hamden Plains Cemetery, Circular Ave., Hamden, CT.
