Doshia Bowling

101309_bowlingrevised.jpgDoshia Bowling, 78, of New Haven, departed this life October 8, 2009. She was the wife of William J. Bowling, Sr.

Born in Luggoff, SC, June 23, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Walker Jones and Alice Loynes.

She was employed by the City of New Haven Board of Education as a Paraprofessional; Advocate for children and cofounder of the Little Angels” summer day camp; and Foster Mom to over 50 children.

She was a longtime member of the Church of Christ, and an Inspirational speaker for Christian Ladies Day programs and seminars.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons, James Harris, Jr. (Carolyn), John Harris (Patty), Roger Harris, Don Harris (Pat), William Bowling, Jr (Danette), David Bowling (Sandra), and Daniel Bowling; daughters, Shirley Armstrong, Starlene Williams (Bernard), Alice Uzzle (Anthony), Tewanna Johnson, Diamond Bowling and T’naji Bowling; brothers Hammie Jones, Bozie Jones, Willie J. Bill” Green, and Mckinley Toad” Green; a sister, Allie Wimberly; a special cousin, Josie Lee; seventeen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by sisters Queenie Gibson and Luella Wilson.

Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, October 13, 2009, at 11:00 A.M. at the Church of Christ, 16 Gem St., New Haven. Burial will be at Beaverdale Memorial Park. Viewing and visitation will be held at the church, Monday, October 12, 2009 from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. and Tuesday from 9:00 ‑11:00 A.M. Professional services entrusted to Curvin K.
