Esther L. McKoy, age 80, of New Haven went home to be with the Lord on April 16, 2009. She was born November 12, 1928 in Wagram, NC., She was the daughter of the late Assa and Katie Ware Stewart. Beloved wife of the late Vernon McKoy, Sr. She was formerly employed at Grace New Haven Hospital as a dietary technician. She leaves to cherish her memory daughters Esther, Dorothy, Doris McKoy, Isabella Wilson and Cynthia Gormany (Walter) all of New Haven, 2 sisters Jean Swint of New Haven and Dorothy Kimbrough of Fayetville, NC, 16 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by sons Lennis and Vernon McKoy, Jr, a brother Charlie Stewart, a sister Beatrice Thomas and a grandson Dwayne McCray. A celebration of her life will take place Thursday, April 23, 2009 at 11AM at Pitts Chapel UFW Baptist Church 64 Brewster Street New Haven CT 06511. Friends may call at the church Thursday from 10 – 11:00 AM. Interment will be in Hamden Plains Cemetery.
