John L. James, 65 A resident of New Haven entered into eternal rest at Yale New Haven Hospital on October 19, 2011.
John L. James was born September 24, 1946 in Newark, NJ to the late Joseph L. James and Ruth Anna Prince, both of Newark, NJ. (Johnny) John was a Deacon at U.D.A.R. Church, where he mentored a host of people in the New Haven Community. He leaves behind two sisters, Charlene Massey and Raynelle Farmer, both of Fayetteville, NC; cousin, Laurna Bell of MD; daughters, Rhonda Taylor and Huguette Scott (deceased); son, Gregory Chanz Simpkins; granddaughters, Brittany Murphy and Nyaire Simpkins; grandson, Bennie Murphy II; great grandson, Brittain Williams and a host of uncles, cousins, and friends. A Memorial Service for John L. James will be held Tuesday October 25, 2011 at Bethel A.M.E. Church 255 Goffe Street New Haven, CT at 10:00 am.
