Laula%20Armond.jpgLaula Armond, 75, of New Haven, departed this life July 25, 2009. She was the widow of Rufus Armond. Born in Oriental, NC, November 25, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Earl Jones and Esther Cooper. Prior to retiring, she was employed by the State of Connecticut as a Homemaker for 20 years. Mrs. Armond is survived by a son, Maurice Armond; a special niece, Sandra Maxsine Dixon (William) of New Haven; a special nephew, Calvin Jones (Stephanie) of New Haven; brothers, James Jones (Mary) of New York, NY, William Mack Jones (Yvonne) and Robert Earl Jones (Sophia) both of Oriental, NC and Russell Jones (Marva) of Mesic, NC; two grandchildren, Shanique and Monaya Armond; goddaughters, Carole Foster and Tailor Coward; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Gladys and Martha Jones, Queenie Smith and Mary Cooper.
A celebration of Mrs. Armond’s life and legacy will be held Friday, July 31, 2009, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Matthew’s UFWB Church, 400 Dixwell Ave., New Haven. Friends may call at the church from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. Burial will be in Beaverdale Memorial Park. Professional services entrusted to Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven.
