
Minnie Lee Sutton, 92, of New Haven, went home to glory on Thursday, May 1, 2025. She was the widow of Wilbert Sutton. Minnie was born May 21, 1932, in Arms, Mississippi, the daughter of the late Charlie Hartwell and Anna Williams.
Minnie moved to New Haven in the early ’60s, where her first job was at Blue Jay Cleaners. She was later employed by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, where she worked until 1994. She also worked independently for Edith Schpero and Family for many years.
Minnie joined St. John Missionary Baptist church in 1964 where she played an important role in helping to build a new church. She later changed her membership over to Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church where she remained a member until The Lord called her home.
Our Mother leaves to cherish in memory; children, Wilbert C, Trinka, Gregory (Tachema), Patrick, Tanya, and Lamonte (Levonne); 11 grandchildren (honorable mention, Desse Chesson); 12 great-grandchildren; 6 great great-grandchildren; special niece and nephew, Angela Peyton and Phillip Autman; goddaughters, Betty Davis, Nell Montgomery, and Irene Davis; godson, Vernon Miller; along with a host of family and friends. She was predeceased by her son, Jeffery; daughter-in-law, Cynthia Sutton; brothers, LH and Melvin Hartwell; and sisters, Eddie D Baylis, Merinda Newell, Charlie Ree Autman, Annie Peyton, and Linnie Harville.
A visitation with remarks will be held Tuesday, May 13, 2025 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Howard K. Hill Funeral Services, 1287 Chapel St, New Haven, CT. Friends may greet family Wednesday, May 14 2025 from 9:30 – 10:00 AM at Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church, 1324 Chapel St, New Haven, CT. A celebration of her life will begin at 10:00 AM at the church. Interment will follow at Connecticut State Veterans Cemetery, Middletown.
