Margaret S. Woods, 66, of New Haven, departed this life December 14, 2007.
Born in Sumter, SC, May 10, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Coady and Julia McKnight. She had most recently been employed at Holiday Inn hotel. Ms. Woods is survived by her children, Christine McKnight-Williams, Barbara McKnight and James McKnight; a brother, John McKnight; sisters, Daisy Pearson and Marie McKnight; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by a brother, James “Jimmy” McKnight; and sisters, Lillie Ann Gamble and Betty Lou Epps. A celebration of Ms. Woods’ life and legacy will be held Friday, December 21, 2007, at 11:00 AM at Joy Temple Church of Christ in Prayer, 424 Howard Ave., New Haven. Antoinette Waller
Antoinette Waller, 60, of New Haven, died December 16, 2007. She was the wife of Archie Waller. Born in Savannah, GA, September 9, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin R. Foster, Sr. and Mable Cohens. She had been employed as a Geriatric Nurse’s Aide. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Nathaniel Wilson, Brandon Foster, Lance, Lisa and Orion Osborne, Brenda Wilson, Angela Brooks, Josette, Tia and Kia Williams, Kashondra Foster and Brandy Alston; a brother, Benjamin Foster, Jr.; sisters, Rachel Saxon and Kathleen, Linda and Amanda Foster; ten grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her stepfather, Moses Cohens; a daughter, Constance Foster and a sister, Ernestine Foster.

Wilbur James
Wilbur James, 87, of Hilltop Health Center, passed away Wednesday December 12, 2007 in Milford Hospital after a brief illness. Born July 14, 1920 in Darlington, SC to the late James & Donella Johnson. Wilbur was employed and retired from Sargents Manufacturing Co. She was a member of Williams Memorial COGIC, and later joined Greater Evangel Temple COGIC where she served as a church mother. She leaves behind a great friend and caregiver Mother Evenly Gandy; active caregiver Amy Johnson; and 24 cousins and numerous friends. Anthony P. Mason, Jr.
Anthony P. Mason, Jr., 26, of New Haven, departed this life December 13, 2007.
Born in New Haven, CT, July 30, 1981, he was the son of Anthony P. Mason, Sr. (Monica) and Kim Boyd-Hunter (Ural). He was employed at Percel & Sons Co.
Anthony was a member of St. Martin DePorres Church and also attended Healing Nations in Christ Church.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a daughter, Lanaiya Mason; sisters, Kristina Melvin, Demetra Boyd, Sharalle and Grabriaska Hunter; grandparents, Kenneth Mason, George and Evelyn Marshall and Percel and Marina Boyd; and other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his paternal grandmother, Johnnie Mae Mason.

Wayne M. Tolson, Sr.
Wayne Melvin Tolson was born in New Haven, CT on September 11, 1942 to the late Lloyd Tolson and Shirley Tolson Wilcox. Wayne succumbed at Gaylord Hospital in Wallingford, CT after a long illness on December 12, 2007.
Wayne graduated from Hillhouse High School in 1960. He attended Howard Law School and graduated with a Juris Doctor degree from Howard in 1975. Wayne’s work experience in the public and private sectors demonstrated that he is a talented and well-respected leader in the community.
Wayne worked as General Manager and Assistant Vice President for SNET/SBC. He was involved in a variety of areas of senior level management. They include Operations, Human Resources, Personnel Management, Marketing, and Labor Relations. Wayne also worked as Labor Relations Officer and Consultant for the New Haven Public School District.
Wayne is a member of the New Haven Consistory #7, Royal Arch Masons and Widows Son’s Lodge No.1, Prince Hall. He was also a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Chi Omicron Chapter, New Haven, CT.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Walterine Tolson, a son Wayne Melvin Tolson, Jr. (Madeline), two grandchildren, Wayne Melvin Tolson, III and Taina Tolson. He was predeceased by his grandfather, Rev. Charles D. Walker, his mother, Shirley Tolson Wilcox, and his father Lloyd Tolson.

Florence L. Michie, age 87, of New Haven, entered into eternal life Monday, December 10, 2007. Loved and admired by her children, she was the devoted mother of Jean Butler, Debbie Amaker, Ronald, Florine, Gary, Ricky, and Wayne Watkins, and Troy and Darlene Michie. She will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Amelie Scott, grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family and friends. Florence was predeceased by her mother, father, two siblings and three sons. Charles Rogers, Sr.
Charles Rogers, Sr., 67, of New Haven, CT passed away Friday, December 7, 2007. Born June 24, 1940 in Morganton, North Carolina to Elouise Rogers and the late Lloyd Rogers. Charles was self employed as a painter for many years. Charles was married to Louise Rich of New Haven, and he is survived by mother Elouise Rogers of New Haven; son Charles Rogers, Jr. of New Haven; two daughters Ella Louise Rogers and Ann Watson both of New Haven; four brothers Robert L. and J.R. Rogers both of High Point, NC, Lloyd Rogers, Jr. of Washington, DC and Willis R. Bowers of Norwood, NC; two sisters Ruth Westbrook of Winston Salem, NC and Nancy Robinson of High Point, NC; four grandchildren and one great grand child. Morstine “Tina” McDaniel
Morstine “Tina” McDaniel, 67, of New Haven, entered into rest on Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at Milford Hospital. She was the widow of James “Jimmy” McDaniel.
Born in Spartanburg, SC, August 20, 1940, she was the daughter of Evangelist Josephine Bowe.
At the time of her death, she was employed as a Sales Associate at Macy’s in the CT Post Mall. She was previously employed at Yale New Haven Hospital for over 20 years in the Billing Department and was a licensed real estate Sales Executive for James Mack Properties in South Carolina.
Tina received and accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior and was a member of Pitts Chapel UFWB Church. She was a member of the Knickerbocker’s Golf Club. She led a very active lifestyle enjoying activities such as SHOPPING, traveling, playing golf, bowling, playing tennis, cooking, reading and spending time with family and friends. Her laughter will never be forgotten.
In addition to her mother, she leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter, Sylvia Dawkins; a grandson, Khalil Abdus-Salaam (Davon J. Brown); a great grandson, Khamiri Abdus-Salaam, all of New Haven; a sister, Marcelline “Marcy” Bowe of Fort Worth, TX; brothers, Marshall Bowe, Jr. of St. Stephens, SC and David J. Bowe of Grand Prairie, TX. She will be sadly missed by her nieces, April, Johna, Tiffany, Christina, and Nyasha Bowe; a nephew, David J. Bowe; a great nephew, Jonathan Lawrence as well as her friends and acquaintances.

Ricky D. Pearson, 44, of New Haven, departed this life December 8, 2007. He was the husband of Michelle Pearson. Born in New Haven, CT, October 15, 1963, he was the son of Daisy Pearson and the late Robert Pearson. In addition to his wife and mother, Ricky leaves to cherish his memories, a son, Nicholas and a daughter, Samantha of New Haven; brothers, William and Leroy of New Haven; sisters, Janie of New Haven and Rosa of Hamden; seven nephews; four nieces; a sister in-law, Alicia Pearson; best friends, Paul Harris and Troy Bryant; and other relatives and friends. Reverend Odell E. Stewart, Sr.
Reverend Odell E. Stewart, Sr. transitioned to his eternal reward on Thursday, December 6, 2007 at the age of 84. Born January 22, 1923 in Columbia, SC to the late Allen and Elisa Stewart. Odell was also the husband of the late Etta Jackson. He is survived by son Odell Stewart, Jr. and sister Dorothy Thompson; three granddaughters including Jillian O. Stewart and Dannielle N. Holmes; four grandsons including and Odell Stewart, III; and special niece Onnie Epps of Columbia, SC and special nephews Gregory Davis of Philadelphia, PA and Thomas Stewart of Irvington, NJ. Odell is predeceased by daughter Marjorie Longshaw and thirteen brothers and sisters. A celebration of his life will be held from 5 – 8 pm, Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at Howard K.
