
Wilken Seward Shaw (“Duggy” or “Da”) 92 of New Haven, CT departed this life on February 12, 2016 at The Arden House where he resided.
He was known and loved as “Sweet Willie!” He was born on January 25, 1924 in Kingstree, SC to the late John and Rosa (McLeary) Shaw of Kingstree, Sc.Left to cherish his memories are seven children Raymond (Mildred) Shaw of Walterboro SC, JC Shaw of New Haven, CT, Ludie Mae (William) Muhammad of West Haven, CT, Barbara McCotter of Cheshire, CT, Linda (Cheshire, CT) and Lee Shaw (Worchester, Mass), Seward (Diane) Shaw of Florence, SC. Three brother, Carl Shaw of Kingstree, SC, Abraham Shaw of Detroit MI, Maxwell Shaw of Snow Hill, SC and six sisters, Ethelou Barr of Kingstree, SC, Lerline James of Rochester, NY, Vernell Howard, Doretha Brown, Josephine (Benny) Smalls of New Haven, CT and Marybel Brown of Kingstree, SC. He leaves 23 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, 4 great ‑great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Wilken was predeceased by his wife Emma J. Shaw, Brothers John Shaw, Clyde Shaw, James Shaw, Sisters Adele Woods, Jacqueline Shaw and granddaughter, Jacqueline Shaw. Services will be held Friday, February 19th at Union Temple UFWB Church, 54 Platt St., New Haven, CT. Viewing from 10 to 11am and service at 11:oo.
