William Jones passed in peace at the age of 59, on Thursday, July 13, 2022. He was born to the late Phyllis Warren in Montgomery, Alabama, on February 20, 1963.
William grew up in Harlem, N.Y., where he had two daughters.
Many years later he moved to Connecticut, where he met his wife, Tamela. He worked for Yale University, and held numerous positions. He worked as a cashier, cook, caterer, painter, and pro-park. He retired after 15 years. He also got into real estate.
He always helped someone in need and made their day with a kind gift or gesture. He also gave life lessons when needed. He will be greatly missed by his loved ones.
William is survived by his wife, Tamela; two daughters, Sheniqua Steed and Raquel Cuiman; son, Immanuel Jones; four grandchildren, Justice Bryant, Justin Melendez, Xavier Rivera, and Yarimee Melendez; aunt, Elizabeth Knight; cousins, Bertram Knight, Diamond Knight, Tamika Knight, and Angela Warren; mother-in-law, Ora Sanders; and brothers-in-law, Amos Sanders and Corey Sanders.
He is preceded in death by his mom, Phyllis Warren; brother, Gerald Ghosten; and cousins, Talea Turnage and Leon Knight.
A celebration of his life will take place Friday, July 22, 2022 at 12:00 Noon at Howard K. Hill Funeral Services, 1287 Chapel St, New Haven, CT 06511.
