A three-car crash killed one man, critically injured a 12-year-old boy, and sent another seven people, including a toddler, to the hospital.
The crash — which involved a Mercedes Benz, a Volkswagen, and a Honda CRV, was reported at 9:49 p.m. Friday. It took place at the intersection of Howard Avenue and South Frontage Road, according to police spokesman Officer David Hartman.
The man who died was a front-seat passenger in the Honda, which had a total of six occupants.
“Surveillance recordings of the crash are being reviewed by crash investigators. As of this time it is not certain who is at fault. A team of crash investigators are at the scene collecting evidence,” Hartman reported soon after the crash.
Thoughts and prayers to all families involved in this tragic accident. New Haven has a serious issue with unsafe traffic - IE people SPEEDING, BLOWING RED LIGHTS and otherwise driving like damm fools in a city that is supposed to be 25 MPH basically everywhere in its limits!!! No way cars driving 25 Mph should be involved in fatalities!!!
It's time the Mayor and our elected officials started dealing with the obvious prevention (rondos and speed humps) available for this type of senseless loss of life!
