Cops investigated three separate fights Tuesday night, making seven arrests and recovering three guns.
Here’s what happened, according to police spokesman Officer Dave Hartman:
At 6:22 p.m. on Tuesday, police responded to a report of a fight on West Street, with shots fired.
Witnesses told cops that two teenage girls had had a fight earlier in the day. One left and returned with two cars full of people, armed with bats and bricks. The people in the cars fought with people who live on West Street. There were several gunshots and people scattered. No one was hit by gunfire.
At 9:12 p.m., cops responded to Carlisle Street on reports of a large fight involving gunfire.
Police found a group of young people in the streets. Cops were told that two men with guns had fled in a red Cadillac. No one had been hit by gunfire.
Police found .22-caliber casings. A witness pointed out two men in the distance, on Liberty Street — the gunmen.
Police stopped the two, a man and a teenager. The teen had a .22-caliber handgun. Witnesses ID’d him as the person who had fired shots.
Police arrested the two on a variety of charges.
At 11:58 p.m., police responded to Limerick Street on a report of a brewing fight. They found a group on Ferry Street and a man who took off running when he saw the cops.
“The officers chased down the fleeing man who ducked down next to a tan car,” Hartman said. “An officer said he heard something drop to the ground, after which [the man] jumped up and announced, ‘You aint got s — t on me.’ He was handcuffed and a gun was recovered from beneath the car.”
Police found another gun beneath a car next to the tan car. Police arrested the man, known as “LoLo,” and charged him with carrying a pistol without a permit, interfering, and trespassing.
They arrested four others for trespassing.
