Arrest Made In Teen Shooting

Police Tuesday morning arrested a 21-year-old Lilac Street man in connection with this past weekend’s shooting of a 13-year-old boy in Newhallville.

Police arrested the man on a warrant on charges of first-degree assault, carrying a pistol without a permit and risk of injury, according to police spokesman Officer David Hartman. Hartman stated in a release that investigators working under the supervision of Detective Dennis O’Connell and Sgt. Ron Perry worked tirelessly” on this case for three days.

The 13-year-old boy was treated at the hospital for a non-life-threatening injury after getting shot in the leg.

This case is separate from the fatal shooting a week earlier of 14-year-old Tyriek Keyes, whose funeral took place Tuesday morning.
