Cops: 14-Year-Old Shooting Victim Was Targeted

A 14-year-old boy remained in critical condition at Yale-New Haven Hospital Monday after someone shot him in what police described as a targeted attack.

The attack took place around 9:30 p.m. Sunday on Bassett Street near Newhall at 9:30 p.m., according to police spokesman Officer David Hartman.

Cops and EMTs found the boy there with gunshot wounds, and he was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Hartman said a passenger in a “white crossover-type vehicle,” wearing a black face mask, shot at the boy. He was hit in the area of the stomach and groin.

A subsequent police release Monday afternoon quoted Assistant Chief Archilles Generoso as saying that at this point it appears the boy was “the specific target of the shooter and that this was not a drive-by assault.”

Police urge anyone with information to call detectives at (203) 946-6304.

This is just a shame. How can a 14 year old get some one mad enough to be shot at.

It’s very sad. You’d think being that young, he wouldn’t be able to make someone that angry, but I grew up in the hill all my life age is nothing but a number. I’ve seen it 1st hand where kids between the ages of 12-17 will test your patience. You just have to remain the bigger and maturer person. The kids in this generation think they’re invincible. Nevertheless, I hope the boy pulls through and can move forward for the better.

Not saying its the case here but there are 14 year olds dealing dope in New Haven making 6 figures.  I went to high school with one who was just caught with 1000 grams of crack and heroin in West Haven.  He was slingin back then and just finally got caught 10 years later.  Step on the wrong toes in the game and it’s bad news.
