The mayor has tapped Vivian Nabeta as New Haven’s new director of arts, culture, and tourism.
City spokeswoman Elizabeth Benton announced the news in a Monday afternoon press release.
Nabeta succeeds Barbara Lamb, who retired last fall. She started her new position, within the city’s Economic Development Administration, on June 18.
Nabeta, a longtime Connecticut resident, “has over 10 years of experience in arts administration, marketing, audience development and event management,” Benton wrote. “She previously served as the Membership and Special Events Manager for the Amistad Center for Art & Culture. During her tenure, she planned numerous special events and programs, redesigned the organization’s website and implemented various social media and online technology strategies.”
Congratulations Ms. Benton.
As the New Director of Cultural Affairs, I would like to invite you to visit the ORBIT, The Ideat Village Art Gallery, at 118 Court Street. We are open everyday at noon, and I think you will be overwhelmed by the quality of artistic achievement by many of these underserved, undervalued, and underpromoted artists that part of our community......
Hope you can make it down. Bring Friends.
