A fire badly burned a construction worker and engulfed a trailer parked in a Hill parking lot Monday morning.

The fire occurred around 9:45 a.m. Firefighters put it out in about 15 minutes.

The fire broke out in a trailer parked behind a Yale warehouse on Daggett Street. Construction workers were using the trailer while they rehab a Project MORE halfway house at 690 Howard Ave.—a house which itself was badly damaged by a fire back in February, displacing 65 tenants.

A female construction worker was badly injured” and sent to Bridgeport Hospital’s burn center for treatment, reported Assistant Fire Chief Matt Marcarelli. He said the reason for the fire is under investigation but appears to have involved a cooking accident.

The fire had endangered two adjoining buildings, Marcarelli said. Fortunately they were masonry so the damage was minimal.”
