Crash Critically Injures Motorcyclist

A 42-year-old man is in the hospital in critical condition — with brain, spine and severe arm injuries” — after a crash in which he lost control of the motorcycle he was riding southbound on Townsend Avenue shortly before 10 p.m. Sunday, and crashed into a bush.

So said police spokesman Officer David Hartman.

In other incidents, according to Hartman:

A man walked up to a customer on line at the Dunkin Donuts on Derby Avenue around 5:30 a.m. Monday, then stabbed the customer in the back. The victim, who is listed in stable condition after undergoing surgery, told police he’d never seen the assailant before. Another customer pointed officers to the alleged assailant, who was sitting across the street.” They arrested the man, who is 34 years old and lives in West Haven.

Detectives are reviewing a surveillance video from BC’s Dell & Grocery on Ferry Street, where a regular customer held up the clerk at gunpoint late Sunday night. The robber opened the register, took the cash from within, some scatch-off lotto tickets and some Dutch Master cigars.”
