Diaper Bag Snatched

After knocking down the mother of a 1‑year-old, two men ran off with her diaper bag, police said.

Here’s what happened, according to police spokesman Officer Joe Avery:

A 20-year-old woman got off a city bus at 6:20 p.m. on Wednesday at the corner of Orchard Street and Sylvan Avenue. As she was walking with her 1‑year-old child towards the the corner of Sylvan Avenue and Stevens Street, she was struck from behind by a man. The woman fell to the ground and her diaper bag was taken from her. Police were told there were two men involved, both wearing all black clothing.

In other police news, according to Avery:

There was a mugging on Elm Street at 10:44 on Wednesday night. The victim reported being grabbed from behind by two men while walking. One mugger told the victim that he had a gun. The muggers took a backpack with food in it and fled.

Police Arrest Four On Gun, Drug Charges

Police announced that an investigation of suspicious vehicle yielded two loaded guns, a box of ammunition, and drugs. Four arrests were made.

Here’s what happened, according to police spokesman Officer Joe Avery:

At 10:45 on Wednesday evening, Officers Derek Gartner and Michael DeFonzo spotted a suspicious vehicle near the corner of Franklin Street and Grand Avenues. There were four people in the car. As the officers approached the car, they saw the driver and the front seat passenger make sudden, furtive movements.” The driver slammed the glove compartment shut.

Officers found two loaded handguns in the glove compartment. One was a Loricin .25 caliber automatic pistol loaded with one round. The other was a Hi-Point 9mm semi-automatic with eight rounds in it. The officers also found a full box of .357 ammunition.

The car’s four occupants were arrested, including a 17-year-old girl. The 22-year-old man in the back seat had drugs on him.

Meanwhile, on Monday afternoon, police reported that a woman entered an Amity Road bank and gave a note to the teller demanding money. fled
in a taxi cab. officers located cab and later apprehended suspect at a nearby hotel.”
