The Federal Bureau of Investigation has recognized the Connecticut Center for Arts and Technology (ConnCAT) for its work helping New Haven’s at-risk youth and unemployed adults.
The bureau’s New Haven Division office chose ConnCAT for the 2014 Director’s Community Leadership Award, which is given to organizations that work with communities to address crime and violence. ConnCAT has been offering youth arts programs and free adult job training to New Haven neighbors since 2012.
“By creating learning opportunities for urban youth while also providing advanced technical skills training, career counseling and job placement services to underserved adults, ConnCAT’s mission will continue to be aligned with the FBI’s efforts to improve the quality of life for all in the New Haven community,” said Carlton Highsmith, ConnCat’s board chairman, in a recent release.
FBI Director James Comey will formally recognize ConnCAT and other recipients at FBI Headquarters in Washington, D.C., on May 1.
