Freshmen Take The Reins

East Rock’s Alderwoman Jessica Holmes is one of several newly-elected city lawmakers appointed to positions of power in recent committee assignments.
Holmes is now chair of the Legislation Committee, which often shapes major new bills before the Board of Aldermen, including zoning changes and charter revisions.
Her new chairmanship was revealed in a list of new committee assignments released by the Board of Aldermen’s legislative services office Tuesday.
Other freshman aldermen rising to leadership positions include Delphine Clyburne (Aldermanic Affairs chair), Brenda Foskey-Cyrus (Community Development chair), Brian Wingate (Public Safety chair), and Sarah Eidelson (Youth Services chair).
Committee appointments are made by board President Jorge Perez in consultation with President Pro-Tempore Jackie James, Democratic Majority Leader Al Paolillo, and Deputy Majority Leader Tyisha Walker, and following placement requests by aldermen.
The new committees are as follows:

should be an interesting budget season??!!
PLEASE: ALL THAT ARE ON the FIANCE committee!!! YOU REALLY HAVE TO READ THE 700 page budget!! Not skim trough it!!! YOU must scrutinize how our TAX DOLLARS are spent!! Justin, Jorge, Al, Andrea and Migdalia all know how hard this committee is. Doug was for many years involved on the citizens side (may know the budget prosses better than most)
IT IS OUR JOB not to make people happy and give our money away! It is to make sure the WASTE that has been happening STOPS. I promise to be part of the effort by making sure your communitys know your efforts.
