The Grand Avenue Bridge will close to car traffic for two weeks starting Monday, Aug. 17.
Pedestrians will still be able to use the bridge during the scheduled work, which “will consist of replacing linkages and mechanical components related to the wedge-type locking system that fixes the bridge into place, allowing for the safe crossing of vehicular traffic. City officials say these components must be replaced periodically to prevent failure, which would then require a much longer closure and resulting inconvenience,” according to a City Hall press release.
