Mayor-Elect Toni Harp’s transition team’s website opened for business Monday, with a request for New Haveners to send in ideas for how run the government.
Harp won the Nov. 5 general election to become New Haven’s first-ever female mayor, starting Jan. 1.

“As we prepare for this next chapter in New Haven’s history we will make every effort to glean information from every corner of the city and beyond, and the interactive nature of this website is part of that – we want to set up a digital dialogue with all who choose to participate,” Harp is quoted as saying in a press release.
The site also has a section for people to apply for mayoral appointments.
In advance of the website’s launch, Independent readers offered the transition team specific advice on some pressing questions facing Harp’s administration. Click here to read about that and join in.
Harp said that people without access to computers can snail-mail her ideas at P.O. Box 3308 Westville Station, New Haven, CT 06515. An app is on the way, too, according to the team.
Public Works deals with hard infrastructure and waste management.
Parks deals with the natural environment and recreational programs.
They're both industrialized with large scale tools but their mission statements are completely different.
Merging them would be like merging the tax office and the registrar of voters because they both use paper. It makes no sense.
