Man Shot Outside New Year’s Party

A 20-year-old New Haven man is in critical condition after a shooting that took place less than an hour into 2014.

Police received the call about the shooting at 12:42 a.m. Wednesday, according to Assistant Police Chief Archie Generoso.

He said police went to the rear lot of La Quinta Inn & Suites on Sargent Drive, where they found Lloyd Streater shot once in the head. Police came upon a chaotic scene with dozens of disorderly patrons” involved in fights, according to police spokesman Officer David Hartman.

Streater had just left a New Year’s party at the facility, according to Generoso. The victim was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where his condition was considered critical Wednesday morning.

A New Year’s Eve party took place on the seventh and eighth floors of the hotel, according to David Hartman.

The investigation is still in its infancy. We’re following the leads right now,” Generoso said. He asked anyone with information to call detectives at (203) 946‑6304.
