Oxford Versus Power Plant

Is the $1 billion proposed Oxford power plant a much-needed revenue generator or potential destroyer of the environment?

That’s what Valley Independent Sentinel staff Eugene Driscoll and Ethan Fry wanted to know on the latest episode of WNHH radio’s Valley Navel Gazing.” The answer? It’s complicated. Very complicated.

At least, according to the show’s call-in guests, who found themselves on totally different sides of the spectrum. Just before a Sept. 17 public hearing on the matter in front of state environmental officials, Driscoll and Fry invited Martha Klein, of the Sierra Club’s Connecticut chapter, and Braith Kelly, executive vice president of Competitive Power Ventures, to give their best arguments for and against the plant. To listen to their reasoning, click on the audio above or find the episode in iTunes or on any podcast app under WNHH Community Radio.”
