Raid Nets Drugs, Guns & Cash

Law enforcement officers raided a 43 Frank St. home and seized guns, drugs, money and the owner of the house.

At 6:30 a.m. Friday officers, detectives and agents, who had been tipped that there were weapons and narcotics in the house, broke down the front door of the 37-year-old homeowner, disrupting his sleep, according to a press release.

The officers had a warrant to search the three-story house and were able to seize an AR-15 type assault rifle, a 9mm handgun (reported stolen in Allentown, Penn.), a ballistic vest, 242 grams of marijuana, 13 grams of cocaine and 5 grams of MDMA (methylenedioxy-methamphetamine), popularly known as ecstasy or, more recently, as Molly. They also were able to confiscate drug paraphernalia including scales, cutting agents and packaging materials worth about $13,000.00 in cash.

They arrested the homeowner, charging him with what was described in the press release as a long list of drug crimes including possession of narcotics with the intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school.” He also was charged with possession of an assault weapon and possession of the stolen handgun.

Police officers, detectives and special agents from the New Haven Police Department’s Intelligence Unit and the Department of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives had been gathering evidence to support their case in the days leading up to the raid.

Assistant Chief Achiles Generoso praised the case’s lead detective, Orlando Crespo, and the team that put the case together.

This arrest and seizure is the result of teamwork,” Generoso said in the press release. We are proud of the dedicated work of our officers, and likewise, of the federal agents who worked this case with us.”
