After she lost her baby, people would tell Meghan Constantino, “It’s good to see you smile.”
Often that would make her feel worse.
Except when she heard it from bereaved moms who knew how she felt — and what it means to smile.
Constantino read aloud a blog post about that experience during an appearance on WNHH’s “Great Give” radiothon. She described how other mothers in her situation didn’t believe her smile meant the pain had ended.
Her organization, Hope After Loss, works with bereaved moms. It is raising money during the “Great Give” fundraising marathon. Constantino is a midwife; she lost her own baby; and she is program director for the group, which organizes support groups and gives other help for parents coping with the worst loss imaginable.
