Schools Seek Parent Feedback

Do you feel welcome in your child’s school? Is the building clean? Does the principal treat you with respect?

Those are a few questions on a new survey that aims to gauge parents’ feelings on their children’s schools. The so-called School Climate Survey has been sent out to all parents in the city’s 47 public schools. The new way of gathering feedback is part of the city’s school reform drive. The surveys will affect how the schools rank when they’re graded in November and placed into three tiers.

Paper surveys were mailed home to parents, and should have arrived by April 30. Parents can also fill out the surveys online: To do so, they need an access code that’s printed on the paper survey.

All students in grades 5 to 12 grade will also be taking surveys to see how they feel about their schools. Click here to see a sample.
