A man crashed his car in the Dixwell neighborhood after being shot multiple times. Then he died in the hospital.
Police investigators are currently at Orchard Place and Charles Street where a person who had been shot crashed the car he was driving, according to a dispatch from Officer David Hartman.
A police officer heard the crash and headed to the scene at 1:22 p.m. He reported that the driver of the car was unconscious and requested EMTs to respond to the scene. When the man’s shirt was removed, it was discovered he’d been shot several times in his torso. The victim — who has still not yet been identified — was rushed to Yale-New Haven Hospital where he later died.
The location of the shooting is not known. Police have received no calls reporting such a crime or reports of gunfire. Shotspotter, which is active, reported no gunfire citywide.
How many murders does this make in the last three weeks? How many assaults? It seems like a crime wave...where is the reporting on that? Or does the NHI only do puff pieces now with 'police blotter' on the side?
