Stray Bullet Strikes Woman

A 59-year-old woman is recovering from a chest wound after a stray bullet from the street entered her home.

The shooting occurred at 1:16 a.m.

Here’s what happened, according to police spokesman Officer David Hartman, based on what the woman told the cops:

The woman was inside her Shelton Avenue home at the time. She heard men arguing outside. She went to the window to take a look.”

Gunfire erupted on the street. (Police later found 12 cartridge casings on the street and concluded the shots came from more than one gun.)

One of the bullets apparently came into her apartment and struck her in the chest.

Police are certain” the woman was not an intended target.

The woman was alert and able to speak with police” when they showed up at her apartment. She is now reported in stable condition, recovering for a surface wound.”

Detectives ask anyone with information about the shooting to call (203) 946‑6304.
