The Branford Jazz Concert Series and the Stony Creek Brewery presented an “Evening of Music” last week to benefit the Branford Jazz Music Scholarship Fund, featuring the Jay Rowe Trio. The event was held at the brewery from 6 to 8 p.m., which included an exclusive Branford Jazz pint glass and the first beer.
“We wanted to do something to announce the summer schedule and tie it in to our jazz scholarship,” said Dale Izzo, a member of the jazz committee board. The concerts will run every Thursday from opening night on June 29 through Aug. 24, starting at 6:30 p.m.
The first concert will feature “The Recess Bureau,” a nine member jazz group from Danbury that offers a distinctive blend of Jazz, Funk, R&B Funk, and Hip Hop.
“We are excited about this year’s lineup,” said Izzo. “We think it’s a good blend of styles that our residents will enjoy.”

Cathy Lezon, community relations and economic development head for Eversource Energy, said, “What a terrific way to spend a nice summer evening, being on our beautiful Branford Green with friends and listening to some great music. I’m already looking forward to both the Branford Festival and the jazz series.”
