The Branford High Boys basketball team defeated long time rival East Haven last Tuesday 47 – 34 at the James L. MacVeigh Alumni Athletic Complex Gym.
The Hornets were led by junior Kory King (pictured above)with 13 points along with Co-captain Joe Carbone (pictured) and Rich Jacobson who chipped in with 10 each.
The Hornets jumped out to a 12 – 4 lead in the first quarter and increased it to 22 – 11 at the half. Branford played tight defense and slowed down the Yellowjackets who had a 4 – 1 record coming into the game.
Coach Jake Palluzzi (pictured) was pleased with the win. “It was nice coming off the holiday break and playing well like we did tonight. East Haven has a good club and we were fortunate to beat them by 13 (points). It’s a big win for us.”
Branford only outscored East Haven by 2 points in the second half but their early lead was enough to secure the win.
