For a game that had no scoring the boys’ soccer game between Branford High and Xavier High was actually pretty exciting, as Branford coach Paul Hunter said.
“It was a battle of two halves. We did well in the first half and they did well in the second half,” the coach (pictured) said. The game ended in a 0 – 0 tie. Xavier is located in Middletown.
“We had our chances but we couldn’t get a goal in the first half and Xavier did as well in the second half. They had some good shots on goal but Nick (pictured) did a great job stopping their shots.”
Nick is Nicholas Cordero, the junior goalie who made two outstanding saves in the second half. “Nick’s a very good goal keeper and if he didn’t make those saves we might have lost the game.”
