The Police and Fire Insurance Association (PFIA) this week honored the Branford Fire Department and individual firefighters for their speed and quick thinking at an April house fire in the heart of town.

When the firefighters arrived at 674 Main St., three occupants were hanging out the front of the third floor windows. A mother, her daughter and a man were taken down the ladders to safety. Their apartments were at the top of the house. Six cats perished. Click here to read the story.
